In spas, sanitizers such as chlorine is added to destroy bacteria and algae that thrive in a warm water environment. Chlorinating concentrate can be used in regular doses as a sanitizer or in higher doses as a chlorine shock. Granular chlorine has a more neutral pH and will not affect your water’s pH as much as other forms.

Chlorine can be used with a UV sanitation system equipped on most spas as it will not be affected as greatly as other sanitizers.
